Yep, new design. Again. Seems like I do not really like dark themes, because since the new old design went online, I didn't do a single thing for it. And this new steampunk-influenced one is another try to make a clean start back into blogging - now with Chyrp, a lightweight and modular blogging-engine, instead of the old full-blown WordPress. This whole new system focuses more on a mix between blogs and the all-new microblogging like Twitter which comes in handy for me, because it could get me back into writing more often and topic-specific. Let's face it: the old blog was merely a monthly status-update, covering all the latest news in one single big post.

Cross your fingers that I'm more active this time ;)

It's done ... not.

As you might have seen, the new design is online. As I said in the last post, it was planned to be a lot darker and grungier, and in my opinion a lot more individual. I originally planned to make the design completely dark without this light header, but it didn't turn out right, so I decided to play around with vector art to create some swirls and circles as part of the logo. And no - there is no Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop involved, it's done with the open source tools Gimp and Inkscape. You may would not expect that, but as soon as you got around the clumsy interface of Gimp, you find actually things that Gimp has a lot better done than Photoshop - the lasso tool for example.

Taking a new direction

Okay, one of my friends, Lolzen, recently started his own blog and with the first post being in English rather than German. I'veĀ  been struggling a long time which language I should choose, because English would address more people. Well, most - if not all - of my readers are german.

But as you can see, I've decided to switch to English. No, not with the intention to publish my monthly posts just in another language, I'd rather want to extend my blog a bit and post more regularly. WoW Interface and AddOn development should take a much bigger part in it, because this is the thing I spend most of my time on. Last but not least, this makes it also possible to write articles based on other blogs. I never liked answering to an English blog entry completely in German - and in a German blog a single English entry would definitely look strange.

By the way: I changed my wordpress password!! Now I can write every time I want :P
