Social Networks ...
Just purged most of my information from facebook and SchuelerVZ. I don't really get the point of these networks and I want to keep my data where I can control it - on my website. Well, actually there is no "About me" page at the moment, but it is a long-term goal to get one.
Why do people actually register there and have thousand-and-one friends, if they don't even know most of them in real life or only saw them one time in school? Somehow this blows the whole meaning of "friend". The only useful thing for me about a social network is to find information about others. And this is also the reason why I quit. Because these others could do the same. Publishing information only on my website gives me a feeling of control, because I can delete old information and I would be sure that it is not archived deep in the server root.
