It's done ... not.

As you might have seen, the new design is online. As I said in the last post, it was planned to be a lot darker and grungier, and in my opinion a lot more individual. I originally planned to make the design completely dark without this light header, but it didn’t turn out right, so I decided to play around with vector art to create some swirls and circles as part of the logo. And no – there is no Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop involved, it’s done with the open source tools Gimp and Inkscape. You may would not expect that, but as soon as you got around the clumsy interface of Gimp, you find actually things that Gimp has a lot better done than Photoshop – the lasso tool for example.

Back to the website. It now runs completely in WordPress, so that the front page can display the latest post and enables me to change its content easily without the need to login into the webserver. The AddOns-page is offline at the moment, but it should not be a big problem to implement it, I was just too lazy to do it.
The portfolio/recent works is also not included, because I just need to get the right idea for the layout. And, well, to be perfectly honest, there is not much to see of recent works. As a coder, it is hard to show off the own work, because you cannot place a screenshot of it on your page and others say “Oooh shiny, beautiful code!”. Seems like designers have it a lot easier there …
By the way, WordPress.org has a good tag line on the bottom its page, “Code is Poetry” – I really like it.
